day out in gurteen

Sun May 11, 2014 11:53 pm

doghi: me and a friend

Duration:3pm till 7

Tide: high at 4

Weather: overcast but dry

Bait: sandeel and mack

Rigs: 2 hook flapper and one hook cliped down

Results: 1 doggie 1 3 bearded rockling and a strap conger

Report: ive never fished the beach before and I only found it by chance today, needless to say I was blown away by the scenery. My goal for the day was to get a ray as ive never got one, we fished the beach for an hour or so with me pulling out a doggie, my mate brian was spinning so we decided to head to find a rock mark out past the beach on the peninsula, once we found a mark we set up once again I pulled out a rockling on a bait set out for a ray, followed by a strap conger. We both had a great day and it wont be long before were back.

Would I have more luck with a ray on the beach or out on the peninsula?

the ray are few and far between now on that beach - used to be much better

id say stick to the rocky areas - blanks very common from the sand
