Lol no I always use smelt as bait , used to use mackeral like everyone else does, you can use whatever bait you like in the Foyle up as far as the border , lots of guys fish for flounder and sole using rag and lug and peeler also , aslong as you have your licence and your not upto no good then fish baits are fine

When you say I've been using all sorts ? Not to be cheeky though correct me if I'm wrong I think the only methods I've stated on all my posts have been smelt fished on a Wessex rig

Hi all,

A question on licences. Is there any difference in the waters covered by doing the following (and if so, what):

- DCAL licence + Foyle endorsement
- Foyle licence + DCAL endorsement

Intuitively there is a difference (the price is slightly different, by £1) but it is not at all obvious to me from reading the DCAL and LA site what the difference is.

Thanks.

If you havw the dcal licence you can apply for the Foyle licence for 1 pound yes , the Foyle licence will cover for Foyle catchment and also for some trout/pike lakes around the Moorlough, ash, enagh etc some also require a permit though , were as dcal covers most other counties in the north , I always get the Foyle on 1st of Jan because it doubles up as a course licence for me then apply for the dcal around mid march
