People:me fein

Duration:2 hours

Tide:Rising

Weather:Rainy then sunny then rainy then sunny

Bait:mack

Rigs:sliding float then 2 hook clipped

Results: 3 pollack,1 coalie and 1 codling(tiny)

Results: Well after an extremely dissapointing session in saleens yesterday I wanted to feel a fish on the other end of my rod again after successive blanks.I headed to good 'ol Portally.I climbed the slippery rocks to the right down to a rocky platform. To my surprise there was very little swell but the water was murky.I set up my float and dropped it down the side of the rocks.I couldnt seem to hook the fish that were stripping my bait so I adjusted the debt of the float and hooked a one pound pollock.Great fight. After this two more one to two pound pollock followed and then my first coalfish of the year. These fish do not get enough credit for the fight they give on light gear!!! I was using a bass rod and boy they give a fight!! I had a few more takes after that but no connection.I rigged up a 2 hook clipped and casted to my left.Nothing happened for a while until I got a bite on the rod that was almost flounder like.Reeled it in and it was a tiny codling. He was about 10 cm.Tiny!!! Overall an OK session but I'm happy considering the weather and the fishing at the moment is crap!!!!

I love this type of fishing, light gear over a rock mark, great report, its nice to see pollock being caught this early, i love using three flys and a half oz to 1 oz little bomb to explore the gullys and cracks in the rock on light tackle, I had plenty of pollock over the lb mark to 2 lb mark this way also came up with coaley , whiting and mackerel on this technique, only problem is you have to wade through the small fish to find the bigger ones.
