Ballyconneely galway

Myself and the nephew

3 hours

1 up 2 down

Calm / Baltic

Sandeel macks

3 hook flappers. 6/0 pennel

2 conger. 8.5 lb and 6.6lb. 7 small pollock

We had a heap of left over bait from a session the night before so we decided to try for congers at a local pier. I set up a float with a 3 hook flapper baited with sandeel on size 4 hooks for something small
I clipped a 1 ounce lead and just let it drift about while we baited up for conger
Within 5 min we had three small pollock on

Paddy ,the nephew is only starting out went after congers and got into a good eel after 30 min
He got the bugger out of its hole in the pier wall after a bit of tug of war
Needless to say he was well delighted with his catch

The float continued to pull the odd 20cm small pollock
About half hour from finish I hooked up a conger myself
First one for me this year

A good session Bloody cold but it is jan I suppose

Nice one Robk. Is that Bunowen pier? Had a conger from there about 20 years ago too.
