East Cork 11/01/14

Mon Jan 13, 2014 11:26 am

People:Me, Nephew & Brother in Law

Duration:6 hrs

Tide:Mid to Low and Back to Mid

Weather:Fresh SE

Bait:Frozen Crab and Razor

Rigs:40/Pulley Pennel

Results:2 Coalies

Report:Thought i would give the cod a go given the break in the recent bad weather we have had. Got to the mark about mid tide on the drop, not the ideal time for this mark but thought it was worth a shot. 30 mins in i had a decent bite but couldnt connect with the fish. It was very quiet until low water at which point i managed to land a 34 cm coalie, which was returned unharmed.

There were quite e few lads at the mark but i only saw one other fish landed, looked to be a small whiting. 2 hrs into the flood i decided to change bait and felt what i thought was weed on the line. Turned out to be another coalie that was foul hooked in the belly. Unfortunatly for him he was i in too poor a condition to return and he ended up coming home with me. The other two lads never even had a bite in the 6 hrs so i was lucky to have landed anything at all.

So no Cod this time but at least i dodged the dreaded blank.

Well done getting a couple of fish, The xmas storms seemed to have scattered the fish.
