Greystones Pier 30/12/13

Mon Dec 30, 2013 10:09 pm

People:Myself & Rob M

Duration:2 hours

Tide:Low water 15:00

Weather:Bit windy & cold

Bait:Razor,Mack & Squid

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:Shore Rockling, 3&5 Beard Rockling & Pouting

Report:Having read a report or two of a few fish being caught of Greystones pier, myself and Rob decided to head down for a hour or two to try and increase the species count.

Nothing stirred for the first while, then as the light faded we started to get a few fish, starting of with a nice 3 Bearded Rockling for myself, then we had a few 5 bearded & shore Rockling and a lone Pouting. Surprising enough we didn't have a single bait robbing Whiting!! :)

Was by no means a hectic session, but enjoyable to be out. :)

So roll on next year to do it all over again, can't wait . . . :)

For me personally the LRFing made up a good few species. And a really enjoyable way of fishing, especially when ya get a half decent sized Ballan. . . Thanks for your comment. :)

Well done, that pier has become a staple for the hungry angler in bad weather.

Can't remember where I got the smallmouth John. Perhaps MM might remember. It might have been the back of the South Pier in Wicklow.

Thanks John. Black Goby was in Downings, and Wrasse was Wicklow pier and Baltimore. Hope that helps. :)

Wow 37 is well impressive and all in Dublin Bay Area, and you also had a few nice specimens during the year, fair play. :) Hope the health is better now. Now I just need to improve on the fish count for next year! Can't wait! Tight lines for next year, I'm sure we'll see you around the Dalkey area. :)
