Report: Was actually up at 4:00am due to the dog next door incessant barking, so took my own dog out and made breaky for both of us. Hit the road for 6:20. Wanted to catch the sunrise which was awe inspiring. Kinda got spooked when I was setting up, it was still dark when three lads approached. Scissors in hand just in case. Just didn't expect to see anyone at that time of the morning. Anyhoo no drama.
Had never fished the beach, it was high tide and the fishing was appalling. Had two rods out which were coming back with bait intact. Absolutely nothing for four hours bar a crab.
Heading for the rocks, same as above nothing biting. Couple of whiting, change locations 4/5 times to no avail. Weather had picked up nicely so that was something to smile about.
Packed up and decided to take a short cut through some fields, my brain had told me to turn back as this was turning into a nightmare and with the skies darkening. A 15 minute walk turned into 40 minutes. Finally got back to the car, took my back bag off to discover the zip had come undone.
Shimano Navi 8000 reel only 4 months old had popped out somewhere in the fields? Was gonna cut my losses as the probability of finding it was far fetched. Mentioned it to the girlfriend, she said were heading out tomorrow for a look-see. So off we go in the morning, get to the location and try and back track my route.
Hadn't a clue where to start every field looked the same, first field nada. Second field I see a track which looks familiar, I head off in that direction. She goes to the right, I was just about to say "you're wasting your time looking there as I definitely didn't come from that direction"...
Then I hear......found it! The relief of hearing those two words was mind blowing. Took her out for dinner last night to say thank you.
