Report:
I had a bit of work to do nearby so I couldn't pass up the chance of a cast.
When I arrived there was only 3 anglers there now there is a sure sign of no fish about.
The result of the session was 1 cod about 30cm and a whiting 38cm as for the rest of the bites I wouldn't insult myself by even making an effort to pick up the rod
I'll have an other look mid-week when the tides start to slacken.
As for now Monkstown isn't worth a visit

I hope I'm wrong but I don't expect to see any amount of them showing up.
Fishing for cod on the offshore reefs have been very poor all summer.
I think I only caught about 6.
The figures from the Cork small boats showed that only 13 of the 25 boats had cod on their species returns and only 3 of these were over 3lb.

Was out all day, lings/smiths, etc. Only one small codling of 2.5lbs, and we were fishing for them. Not a good sign, odd big one around as JC has shown. Fishing was good with 19 species, but one cod.

In yesterday's light lines comp, there was only one cod caught out of 3000 fish in total. There was also one brill caught - that shows you how rare cod have got this year.

I had a few on Saturday. There were a few small ones showing in the outer harbour and a few on the reefs just outside. All told not a lot of fish. I was spurred on by the fish being caught in Youghal... We can only hope.
