boyne bar 25 aug 2013 drogheda

Mon Aug 26, 2013 2:16 pm

People: me and me mate

Duration: 6 hours

Tide: ebb and flow

Weather: calm

Bait: rag, sand eel

Rigs: 2 hook flappers

Results: 1 eel

after 2 unsuccessful trips to ballymoney beach in the last few weeks, we decided to try the boyne bar. rods were twitching all night, i guess those wee flatties were hungry. . . .and when i say wee, i mean wee. no more than a couple of inches.

4 hours of stripped hooks had passed when finally a nudge on the big rod {15ft} and the eel was landed. about 18" long.. . .
that was it for the remainder of the night.

the highlight of the night tho was watching the search and rescue chopper scouring the sea for whatever reason. . .

fishing on the east coast has been so poor recently

unlucky lads. coud be worth giving port beach a go. you should get something off it at this time of year. even if it's only a few flats :)
