Weather:Overcast, mild and very slight breeze
Bait:Mackerel
Rigs:Pulley
Results:3 Flounder and my 1st ever Thornback Ray
Report: First report and hopefully not my last. Early start for me but wanted to be there for the rising tide. Far from a good angler but I used all the info and tips I mostly got from this forum to give me the best shot of catching something. Wasn't particularly going for a ray, anything would have done but I was hopeing for a ray, dogfish or maybe even a small conger. Caught 2 of the Flounder early on and the other around 10.30 after the tide had turned. Had a heart pounding moment when something nearly pulled my rod and tripod over, got it just before it fell, gave a few winds and felt some weight and then nothing, just pulled in my line and a swivel at the end. The hook length had presumably been bitten through or cut off something. I didn't have enough weight on it to snap it if it was snagged. It was 25lb line. Possibly a Conger? Shortly after that at 12.00 ish the rod started going and I bagged my first Thornback. Not massive, maybe 4lb at the most but I was delighted. I only had 3 small pieces of mackerel left too so was lucky it came when it did. It made the early start well worth it too.
