People: myself
Duration: 3.5hrs
Tide: high (dusk)
Weather : overcast
Bait: soft plastics
Results: 1 bass (4lb ish)
I'm sick of hearing of people getting good bass to lures so I said I'd try it out. First night out, no joy. Second night 3hrs in and I'd just given up hope when Bang fish on..... After playing the fish for about 2mins I decided to walk back towards the bank as I was wading, so I'm walking back...... Fish jumps and what do ya know the Line snapped (8lb breaking strain if definitely too light). Heartbreaking.... Can't wait to head out again. Lesson learned (don't be so anxious to get the fish in the net so fast)
Thanks,
Keifer

Am inclined to think that it was a seatrout as bass rarely jump. You might be better using a good quality braid which is stronger. I use 16lb braid. You should put a flourocarbon leader onto this around the same strength.

I recently caught a few bass which jumped clear out of the water on the retrieve so I wouldn't put it past them. Well done on hooking into a fish and next time you'll land it, as Stan says if you try braid and a fluoro leader you won't look back.
