Report:Got to the mark at the perfect time, hour before dark and 2 hrs before low water. Tide was running strong so decided to go with a 30g silver kilty to start off. Turned out to be a good choice for a change, third or fourth cast and BANG i was into a decent fish. He gave a decent account of himself before i managed to get him in, a beautifully conditioned 53cm fish. After a little kiss on the head and a quick pic, he was returned to fight another day. Not bad for only my third fish of the year.
Ten minutes later, again on the silver kilty, i had a very aggressive take. The fish started to take line and i knew i was in for a bit more of a crap from this fish. I spent the next good 10 to 15 minutes fighting the fish, he seemed to be using the current and reef weed to his advantage. As i edged him closer to shore i imagined him to be a very large fish indeed, given the strength of the fight. Arms aching i finally got him to shore only to find he was barely larger than the first fish but still a respectable 56cm.
I guess its like the old saying "its not the size of the dog in the fight ,but the size of the fight in the dog". Fish number four was promptly released with a good dose of respect for the battle fought. Fish number four for the season will be firmly etched in my memory for some time to come.
