Myself and boy headed out for a bit of lrf fishing today in Howth. We've had a run of bad form recently with mach and trout fishshing so really wanted to catch something to get his confidence up again. All about quantity over quality when it comes to kids.
Anyway we went to a little sheltered and safe mark that can be good for small pollock. The water was gin clear and there was lots of fry about so hopeful we'd catch something. First cast and he caught the smallest pollock i'd ever seen

. This continued practically every cast for the next hour, so he was on cloud nine. He didn't care if they were under 6 inches long; he was catching fish!

The water was so clear you see the fish taking the bait. Great fun to watch!
He spotted a small wrasse while jigging off a rock and preceded to spend the next 30 minutes trying to catch it. Finally it was catch on a size 16 hook by a very happy kid. It was a great little session and most importantly for kids it was great fun.
