I dont to Light rod fishin but a quick search brought up Round Goby?

Black goby the top one and without seeing the dot on the first dorsal fin I'd say a sand goby for the second one. Pics taken from an old version of "Collins Gem Guide, Fresh and Saltwater Fish" probably one of the best books you could buy to identify fish in our waters. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collins-Gem-Fre ... 0004588274

Nice fish mate.

Worth printing out the PDFs on this post to have in the house. I keep meaning to get a folder for the mini species one to bring along when pier/rock fishing too.

I`d say they`re both black gobies... The second one is very big for a sand goby!!
They are a slender goby and usually only grow to about 7 cm(max 10cm) and there should be 4 dark bars along its side..
