Report:We returned to this beach again last evening as it had been consistently good for the last few weeks. I was first on site and had a good bite on my first cast which didnt develop into anything unfortunately but which was a good sign

. Mitch arrived next and as he set up I had a fish take my crab bait, probably a smoothie, but he dropped off coming over the bank

. Another lump of frozen crab was sent out and it was third time lucky for me as I noticed a definate Smoothie take,,,,,Bang,,Bang ,,Bang,,,,and I lifted into it and after my first decent scrap of the year, in came a nice medium sized Smoothie

. Mitch was next in with a doggie sized pup smoothie and then it was dabs on the 3 hook flapper on rag followed by my first Plaice of the year. Neil Brown aka Fishface arrived with his nephew Eoin . Neil was to show Eoin his Smoothie Bagging techniques but alas it was Eoin who turned the tables and ended up giving us all a fishing lesson

. So now we were at the stage where myself , Mitch and Eoin had bagged a Smoothie each

,,,but poor Neil was reduced to showing passers-by photos of his past glories,,sad to witness a great angler reduced to this level. Fortunately for him he had a take soon after and after a battle , landed a Smoothie. The main reason for the battle was that the Smoothie was unfortunately foul hooked

,,,and when we saw this we didn't let Neil off the hook either

. After this the fishing was very slow and only for a couple of doggies and bikini clad beauties on the beach, we would have had nothing to keep our interest, but as the sun faded and the clothes came back on , we hoped the fish might yet make a re-appearance.

. As the tide rose our hope was re-ignited when Mitch had a belter of a fight from a hound which took him walking down the beach 50 or 60 yds. This hound kept us there a good hour after we probably would have gone home but what the hell ,,,,another lesson learned of tide /conditions etc
