Report:
Decided to try a beach which I hadn't fished before and arrived at 9.00pm, set up 2 rods and sent them both out far as it was very calm with no movement at all in the water, it was also still very bright. Nothing happened for a couple of hours; the only bites I got were from the ever increasing numbers of midges. I smeared on some insect repellent which helped quite a bit but of course you aren't supposed to get the stuff near your eyes, nose or mouth, the midges favourite spots. Once dusk approached the fish came on the feed starting with a dab and followed by 8 dogfish, another dab and a small poor cod. All the dogfish were females, I must have ruined a hen party's night out. I had been hoping to get a ray or two from this beach but not on this trip. However it was a busy enough session so I will return. Actually I did the following night and never got a bite!
