Report: Had one of those days when I had to get out fishing to relieve the stress  . I had finished work in the early afternoon and decided to put up the new curtain pole that herself had bought. "This shouldn't take long  " , I told her ,,,,,,,but I hadn't factored in that the new curtain pole was designed in such a way that it would bring me to the edge of madness before finally succeeding  That curtain pole very nearly got the better of me but with crab in the freezer and some ragworms in the fridge I had something to aim for  . I even put it up straight,,,a new first for me  . Annyways  I was motoring down the N11 by 5pm and the traffic was unusually light so it only took me just over the hour to reach the mark, which I won't name in case thousands of Angler's descend on it like locusts and clean it out in a fishing frenzy  . Last evening it was the perfect place to be  ,,,,, just me and the remnants of last week's fine spell,,,discarded shopping trollies,,children's toys,,,,bar-b-que's,,,crisp packets,,,,,,you could almost imagine the happy scenes here last week in Enner,,,,,oops,,,,I said I wouldn't mention the name
I got set up in no time and started firing the bait out ,,,,crab at distance and rag and crab legs/claws in close to mid distance. Crab on 3/0's and rag etc on size 1's. Tide was still dropping when I got there and though I fot a few fish early on,,,,,whiting ,Dabs and the odd small pup,,,,,It wasn't until 9pm or so that it picked up to where I was getting something every odd cast. I had a good few doggie size Starry Smoothounds which cheered me up considerably,,,,,,,,especially as Fishface had been here the night before and said it was crap  I had put the shelter up in case of heavy rainshowers but thankfully it stayed dry and mild all evening. The doggies made an appearance after dark and one in particular had me going,,,,,thinking he was a decent Smoothie :? . The fishing improved into darkness as the tide rose and I found it hard to pack it in but with an early start ahead of me and an hour's drive home I eventually packed up at 11-30pm. I carried the shelter, bag and chair back to the van and left the 2 rods out for as long as possible  When I got back to them I had a smoothie on the distance rod and a treble of Doggie, Smoothie pup and a Dab on the 3 hook flapper  ,,,what an end to a great evening  . While the Biggies haven't arrived yet, i'm happy enough with what i've caught on my last few sessions :D

Well done Dave, that's a real nice nites fishing. We wer there last nite and had the same results, dogs, some off them being real clonkers, lots of good size pups, a few doggy size hounds and 3 bigger ones to about 5lb. We also got a silver fella which was pictured then returned. Was a fish a cast from about 10 onwards, with 6 dif species caught.

enjoyed your report Dave as always, excellent session and photos, (even if they were not Van Gogh's paintings) and don't you worry, the big one will come to you one of these days. You have out fished Noel already by what I've heard through the grapevine 8)
PS: cant get this Don McLean song out of my head now... :D

Nice fishing and nice weather. Perfect. Concentrate on acquiring and putting up a curtain pole seems to be the key here to catching....... I'll have to check with Southside to see if they have any curtain poles left......
