Report:I'm off work for a week and with nothing much to do, I got some bait and to the pier I went. When I got there, there were 3 lads fishing and had a mackeral caught. Well, at least there's a sign of life I thought.
I set up the two rods and horsed one out as far as I could and the other I just lobbed about 50 yards. Nothing was happening really, baits were coming back with starfish on them!..
As high tide arrived, I got my first sign, the rod tip just slightly dipped, so I reached for it, and felt the weight on it, first ray landed.
I re baited and threw it out, I lifted the other rod to find that there was also a ray on it too! That was 2 ray in quick succession, and as the ray seem to hit in quick bursts down there, I thought that might it. I cast again and in the meantime, the other lads had landed a ray quickly followed by another. I went and sat in the car to get out of the breeze for a while, as soon as I got comfy, the rod took a good dip, another ray!..happy was I!
The last ray took a full squid, I didn't even see it, I was just taking in the line to see if crabs had taken the bait, and there it was!..it quietened off after that with nothing for an hour and a half, so I packed up and went home.
It was a good day out and great to catch at long last!
