just a quick report first session of the year for ray so myself and sean headed out to one of my favorite ray marks,, first cast a nice ray , then sean was in with a dog then my second ray followed by 2 dogs.. sorry but got no photos... the other thing was there was alot of brown slimy weed all over the place , have never seen this before in the west,, any ideas anybody... thanks...alan......

well done on getting a few ray,i have seen the brown slimy weed at a mark i never had trouble with weed before
the water quality is bad as well

Nice few fish for the 1st session of the year we get that weed down here at Poolbeg but you can guess what thats from!!!

Without seeing a picture of the weed I could not be sure but it may be Porphyra or Laver as the Welsh call it. Its a very fine thin weed that can cover the sand and rocks. Like brown tissue paper but really slimey.

As for the water being of poor quality as reported by GFKelly, this is a quite normal event known as the Spring Diatom Bloom. Its just occuring late in the year for obvious reasons.
