Bait:Fresh lug, a few white rag and frozen mackerel

I hadn't been out in a while, was getting "the itch"and succumbed to the urge to scratch. I dug a couple of dozen lug which if nothing else, warmed me up. To combat the cold I wrapped up in more layers than an onion, set up 2 rods and, when the tide was well in, started fishing. Not so much as a bite in the next 2.5 hrs, the baits were totally ignored. Approaching high water the waves were picking up a lot of weed from the previous tide mark making it impossible to fish comfortably so having had a good scratch I packed up. The "Wee County" is well named; it's just one hungry acre at the moment.

Hard luck JW. I'm planning to 'scratch the itch' at the weekend up in Donegal. Anything will be a bonus!

jw the beaches are very bleak at the moment,,cold air,cold water temps means cold sand/cold surf so its a no go.thats if it was a beach you were fishing etc,,,,,,,me and a mate are planning on going tommorow but gonna opt for a deep water mark instead of beach,,,nice to be out all the same i bet

Hard luck with the blank,,hauling a fish off any East coast beach this week will be nothing short of a miracle with them seas.

Fair play for heading out JW and its no surprise with that weather for blanking. Hope you got some cream for the "itch"
