Was planning a day piking but had a change of heart because of the weather forcasts for this morning.
I decided i'd get up early see what the weather was like and if it wasn't too bad i'd dig some lug and try for flounder.
Woke up to see it was a little frosty but bright and clear so off to dig lug.
Set up on the beach about 1.5 hours later and by my third cast the blank was saved and the target flounder was caught.
Very quiet after that and then out of nowhere the rod tip jumped over, i thought at first a bird had hit the line but when i looked out i saw a fish jumping clear out of the water with my trace including 5oz grip lead.
Picked up the rod and had a great fight eventually landed..... at 1st glance i thought a bit early for a bass then on second look i realized thats no bass thats a sea trout. To say i was like a dog with two mickeys would be an under statement as this was my first ever sea trout.
The rest of the session passed in a flash with only another flounder.
Hope 2013 continues the way it started.
