Greystones Pier, 17/02/2013

Mon Feb 18, 2013 1:52 pm

People:The boy and I

Duration: 17:00 -18:00

Tide:High

Weather: lovely!

Bait:fresh Lug, frozen sand eel

Rigs:3 hook flapper

Results:Scorpion for short arse, blank for me

Report:
We went down to the harbour for a quick wetting of the lines, there was a father and son setup since noon but had only got a single pollock so expectations were low.

Rory got a Scorpion after about 15 minutes and that was that a far as catching fish went, a few bystanders couldn't believe the colours of the scorpion fish or that fish like that could be caught outside of a tropical fish tank!.

There was a lot of rubbish thrown about way more than the usual level, bait stuck all over the walls, discarded bait packaging and a fair few amount of discarded line complete with hooks and decaying bait. The other lads too a fair bit away with them and we filled a bag also getting most of it but the place was actually starting to stink and will probably cause problems.

fair play fenris, a wee scorpion fish always a bit of fun, and a fish at least

absolutely hate to see this, brilliant job in cleaning it up! 8)
there are fliers somewhere on here i think that can be printed out and posted onto the pier wall if you care to do it. not sure where they are though. think that the fliers encourage people to take their rubbish home with them..

The bin from the pier is gone but there is a wheelie bin near the slipway, they probably got fed up bringing it up and down the steps!

Bin or no bin there is no excuse for littering. I was at a popular spot in Donegal last year which was well littered with smashed bottles, lager tins, yards of line, disposable barbecues etc. I commented on the mess to a couple of anglers who arrived shortly after me, Terrible mess, shocking they agreed. But it didn't stop them leaving their own contribution behind before they left....

Just shows some people dont take fishing really serious, these scum wont be around when the council take action and ban fishing from the pier!!!!
