Fished youghal beach but were plagued with doggies as soon as the bait hit the water, fer managed to get one nice sized coalie on lug and mac.After an hour of catchin dogs we decided to pack up and hit ferry point on the drop which resulted in a couple of small cod and a coalie.Poor fishing but we had a gud laugh.Time to start planning for the comin years bass fishin.Think its the end of the cod til December.Tight lines

Well at least ye had a laugh and didnt blank. i will be headed that direction myself this weekend. i will post a report to let ye know how i get on.

Seems to have been a quiet Winter season all round.
At least ya got a few fish to keep ya busy.

Hey John. Fishing Youghal myself this weekend so hopefully have better luck. Were you using any crab...?

i dont know about youghal but out off kilmore the cod can hang around till may in big numbers no more than a mile off shore and closer still to rough ground ,funny they dont frequent the beaches yet are quite close by i suppose its all down to available food

Would check the weather first with all the rain we had there could be a lot of freshwater in the estuary if your fishing the carpets.

Hey sparky fishing a mark away from the estuary that has been kind to us this winter. Not really mad about the carpets as it gets busy enough. Your right though with the heavy rain it tends to push the fish out the estuary.

Good stuff tipp. Well done on gettin a few fish in. All set for the end of month an we go on our Kerry adventure
