plastic fantastic ! co antrim rock mark sat 9th feb 2013

People: myself and jordan

Duration: 3 hours

Tide: over high

Weather: wet but calm

Bait: lead heads and slug-go's

Rigs:

Results: pollack

Report:

well it's been a fair old while since i had the chance to sit down and write a report, so i'm dusting off the cobwebs here :P
between foul weather and unsettled seas our fishing has been seriously hampered since before christmas. on the few occasions we were able to get out, the weather destroyed our plans dead in their tracks :( :(
but not this weekend   . a dawn raid to one of our deep water county antrim rock marks was in order with the promise of a boat trip tomorrow off the antrim coast, which had us full of beans and ready to go 8) 8)
it was sketchy enough scampering over the wet rocks. but with a bit of care we were perched on our summer platform that has just about enough room for 2 people to fish in reletive comfort :P
well the long and the short of it was that junior was at his normal work   . and after 3 hours i had lost a good fish, and missed 2 decent hits   . meanwhile junior had landed 2 pollack and lost 2 to the kelpy depths. no monsters by any means, but it was still good to get the heart going with the tell tale thump, thump, thump of a deep diving pollack :P :P
all the fish fell to the lunker city slug-go's which are rapidly becoming a favourite of ours. time to order a batch load of them for the summer months me thinks
not a bad way to blow off the cobwebs

Nice going there Al and Jordan 8) , the slug-go is a great sp for a variety of species and I reckon that second pollack is a bit more than 2lb maybe 3lb might be closer.

Nice pollack Al and Jordan, nice calm sea also! You were on the east of Co Antrim I reckon cos I was around the corner on the causeway coast and the breakers were as tall as my fishing rod.
Nice pollacks!

cheers brian. it's the same myself. i ended up having to order them online. i got the silver and black, and gold and black. both work really well. but now you have my attention with the thought of red and black ones too :P
i'll have to get some of them for the summer in my next order. i'll get you a pack and bring them over with us on our west coast excursions

cheers man. you'd be surprised just how many deep water rough ground marks hold a resident head of pollack that never seem to leave the area. they are there to be caught all year round if you put in the effort when the weather eases up long enough to get a crack at them

thanks razor and declan. it came out at 2lb 5oz on the scales. thats why i usually photograph them on the measure. photographs can be very misleading at times. just look at most angling magazines. if you hold it right, a 12oz flounder can look like a specimine lol.
