Duration:20:00 - 02:00/ 12:00 - 16:00

Tide:both

Weather: cold but calm conditions

Bait:lug, squid, mackerel

Rigs:clipped down 2 hook, size 2

Results: 8 coallies 1 shore rockling

Report:
I was champin at the bit to get out for a session cause I hadn't been out in months. So I've never fished the north east coast before so thought I would give it a shot.. I checked the tides and weather , looked promising for cod. Cushendun was the first mark sat night arrived got set up and wacked the bait out. Neil hit 2 coallies within minutes. Both at about a pound . Thought we would get a few bigger 1s but saddly wasn't the case the rest was all tiddlers with me catchin 3, Neil caught 4 and Daryl caught the shore rockling. Not that I can complain. It was a good session and we didn't blank till we hit cushendall on Sunday and sadly never got 1 bite.

There's alot to be said fornight fishing.

Pics come later

Cheers Monty for the info.

No probs Fagan, they're two nice places to fish :D . Blanked myself in Cushendun on New Years day in Daylight  (definately fishes better at night) Myself and Nial were catching LSD's and Whiting at Waterfoot on Wednesday night but alas not of any great size.

Causeway Coast not setting any records at the minute, all roads lead to the Glens

Keep 'er lit,
Martin

At least yous got a bit of action with the coleys there at Cdun Fagan. I had a go there last Wednesday evening and although I did get a bite or 2, didnt hook anything- to my surprise. Maybe if I had proper worms and not frozen ones?

Of the glens beaches I have to say Waterfoot has been the best to me- but have blanked there too. Some decent sessions catching many and varied species but I have to admit to 30cm flounder and 40cm codling being my best catches. Coleys of 40cms as well, but mainly smaller. I like Wfoot on a dropping tide on a winters night, dont like high tide at wfoot- others may disagree.

Fair play for getting out- Cdun always draws me back because there actually have been bass caught there before, wfoot too, but I'd love to get one at Cdun. Easier said than done!

Cheers cathal I might be over that way again. Couldn't believe the easy access of them marks. And the coallies kept us occupied.

Maybe get out with you a spin sometime then, I forgot to add a 43cm sea trout on a bit of mackerel on a January night to my 'decent ' Waterfoot beach fish list. Ive heard of bass being caught there by anglers but also by netters in years gone by so you just never know. They aint common, very far from it.
