People ....... Me and mark12976
[b]Duration....... 8pm to 2.45am
[b]Tide...... Low to high
[b]Weather...... light sw wind lovely night
[b]Bait..... Mack, crab and sandeel
[b]Rigs.... 3 hook flappers. Conger rig
[b]Results: 45 whiting
[b]Report...... Headed out with intentions to hook a conger. Got to the pier and set up the conger rods. Baited them with mackeral flappers and out they went. So we set up the next rods. First cast both of us had a double hook up of whiting. So Baited up again and back out. Didn't even get a chance to put the rod down wen the rod nearly got taken out of my hand and nearly pulling me off the top of the wall. My hart start racing, I was into something really big. Then the hooked popped. I was sick. Reeled in and my hook was straightened. could of been a nice fish or a seal I will never know. Well when that episode was over, mark reeled in and had a treble hook up. Biggest whiting was 23cm. So threw the night we were consistantly catching fish every cast. No conger around so the crabs enjoyed the conger bait. So after a busy session we packed up the gear and off we went. Not a bad night fishing. My best session off howth pier. Well worth the trip out.

Sounds like a nice session. Too bad for the missed big one.
There aren't many reports from Howth, except about mackerels, so thanks for that report.
