Report[/b]: Headed out on Saturday with the 2 nephews and a friend. The 2 young lads landed 3 flats and 2 coalies.

The tide was just turning. Expected more action but so long as fish were caught that was all that mattered. I always feel that kids need to see some catch something to keep up their interest. W Waterford rarely fails to show up some fish. 2 nice plaice & a flounder for dinner kept me happy

On Sunday we went out to net sandeels with the great Cortaz.

This was exciting as any fishing for Leon and Keelan. It was absolutely freezing but the lads didn’t even notice. We got no sandeels but loads of small mullet, a small wrasse, several big pipefish , shrimps and crabs….great excitement all round.

That afternoon we were a little bit late heading out to one of our favourite spots….forgot about the hours change in the tide. As we set up Cortaz caught 3 bass ( 5lb, 6lb & 7 lb) and missed at least as many.

Unfortunately, the bass were obviously passing and by the time we were ready for action they were gone.
Next day the lads went to see a film and I went out with Cortaz. He caught alovely 5lb bass on a lure. I missed one on crab but caught a fine coalie. Thought we would catch more as conditions were perfect…..nobody told the fish.
