People:myself & the old fella

Duration:4.30 until 8.15

Tide:high tide 8

Weather:cold and dry

Bait:lug&crab

Rigs:2 hook flapper

Results:flounder, plaice and cod

Headed out for a few hours Saturday with the old man for a session on the river. After hearing reports of a few good cod being caught during the wk up to 9lb !! couldn't wait to get the rods out.

Got to the spot we decided to fish they were a few lads fishing all ready with not much happening, had a quick chat with them and they also heard about a few nice cod landed up as far as the bridge in Waterford.

Anyway got set up fairly quick and were into flats from the off. It stayed that way until about a hour or so and slacked off the father managed 2 nice plaice and myself 1. Just about a hour off high water was getting a few tips on the rod another flat I thought so I left it off and had a look at my second rod. Turned to see my rod take a most welcome pull down so I picked it up and struck.

Cod I told the father with a little smile at him and soon enough a nice cod of 3lb and as I thought first a nice plaice. Went quite after that so it was home for us, the guys up from us had not much look very few bites all night but the lads 50m up from them had got a 4lb cod

It's funny that a few meters can make or brake your night cod at either side of them and them nothing all of us using lug!

P.s still trying to figure out how to get pics up any help would be most welcome : )
