Report: After such crap fishing and an even worse summer 3 of us decided to do a trip to waterford and camp on the beach. We arrived on sat the 8th to the best weather I'v seen all summer and was greeted to a beach that was ALIVE...... We could not believe the amount of movement in the water, birds feeding on the sprat, shoals of bait fish patroling the beach. At times it was like the water was boiling with the fish feeding on the surface, and the birds telling us excatly where the fish are....

Being excited at what we were looking at we setup right away, it was just nearly high tide so I setup a bait rod and the other lads went spinning. The bait rod sat there untouched, I tryed all baits but no. No interest what so ever, but the lads that were spinning were having better luck. One of the lads landed a lovely mac and was followed by a good few and lost even more. It just made us more excited for when it was dark....

The tide started to drop and the fish got less and less so we packed up and went for a trip into Ardmore town. What a beautiful place......
The harbor was a worth a look but while there we spotted some dead ray, Dean wanted a closer look and whe he got down to look there was also a stary hound that was around 9lbs and a few doggies, all dead. It kind of put a damper on it for me because I hate to see fish wasted. Why cant these netter give it to people rather than just sling it over the side for it to rot?

We headed back to setup for the night, get the tent pitched and light the BBQ so we could settle in and do some serious fishing and land some bass and flounder......

WE started fishing the incoming but it was still light, around 6 in the eve. Nothing, not a nibble. There was people spinning all over the place but not a single fish was landed.
As darkness came on people started to leave and it was just us and anoth 2 lads down the beach fishing, but we had started to get hits on the rods. Small taps and big slams. After the first hour of darkness I landed the first fish, a small flounder ( which was covered in these small lice things ).

Chris had one around and then dean had another.......

Just before High I landed the last fish of the night... Another small flounder....

It was now high tide but the fish had gone, not a single bite was had. At this stage it was 1am and I was at the stage where I couldent even keep my eyes open so I climbed into my tent and had a few hours.........

I woke at around 6am and stuck the BBQ back on to boil some water for a coffie, but when I looked at the ocean I though I was dreaming. It was perfect, overcast, a nice breeze and tthe surf was orgasmic. And the tide was only on the turn coming in....... See for yourself.

I got the rod out and again waited.... Canged bait and tryed EVERYTHING THINKABLE but nothing, not a sniff of a fish. Bait was coming back the same as we had put it out.... I felt like crying.

After fishing till 10am I was tired and fedup, it broke me and we gave up and went back to Dublin with failure writen all over our faces.....

Ballyquin won and it will be haunting me for the rest of my life.!!!

I have been trying for an hour now to get photos to work and I just cant do it so heres a link to the images on FB.........

Hard to believe with all that activity that there was not more joy on the lures. Normally ye see a scene like that and ye think "boom"...! V strange.

Thats why it broke our hearts, One of the lads even ended up with a wellie full of sprat because the shoals of bac were chasing them onto the beach!!!!
