Hi guest
Register and peopel can send you private messages (PMs) which is typically how the really good information is shared!
My first bit of advice around Howth would be to drop the hook size down to 1s as there are lots of small species around there and you will hook up on the flatties (dabs) a lot better with the smaller hooks. The latter tend to wolf down baits so people often use circle hooks to try to ensure you only lip hook them, saving surgery or damaged smaller fish.
Not a bad start, especially the codling...

The harbour may not be the best place to start, depending on what you're after. Drop me a PM and I'll give you some suggestions on where to wet the line.

You also might like to try using pulley rigs instead of the paternoster. The pulley, in theory, allows the fish time to run with the bait before feeling resistance and then stands a good chance of hooking itself.
Boy do I miss those cod!!
