Report: went to clare for a weeks hol with the missus, took all the gear and done abit of research into the area. fanore beach only 5 mins from were i was stayin and looked class! only prob was shortage of bait. asked for advice on the site for help and got a couple of pms with great info. dug afew worms and and got frozen bait in the local tackle shop. hit the beach in med style conditions to be met with bunged beach and a load of people in the water with there surfboards.. went up the the far end of the beach were the river flows out and got enough peace and quiet to get a couple of baits into the suds. first cast and no visable bites and decided bait change time, when rig came out of the water the missus was shoutin yav caught a wee one and i thought happydays, but as soon as i seen the fish i knew what it was, a weever! first time catchin one but had alredy knew the damage they could do to the hands. the wife was sayin just cut the hook but bein hooked in the mouth i wrapped the cloth round it to take it off then oh ho the feckers spike went through the cloth into my finger and drew blood straight away. whilst i was panicin the wife was nearly chokin with laughter sayin i sreamed like a girl!! xtreme stinging finger for about an hour and in the process caught two more but just cut the snood. was hopin for afew flats or poss a bass that arent elusive from this mark from what i can gather but it didnt happen. all in all sore finger but class to get a session on beautiful beach with great scenery.and a thanks to all who pm,d me with help with bait. will put up afew pics later. g

glad you enjoyed your trip and didnt go back empty handed

. If it is any consolation the bass were fairly elusive from the beach but I did have one from the rocks a few miles up the road the same night.
