West Waterford - 2nd August 2012

I don't usually post up poor sessions, but in view of the current discussion on the poor fishing at the moment thought I may as well.

I got a bunch of crabs on Wednesday but had some bad news* so cancelled my planned fishing trip. But last night I didn't think I was going to get to sleep so went out close to midnight for a few hours to bait fish an hour down to low tide and a couple of hours on the rise. There was a good surf with a nice southerly breeze (although very heavy rain later) so conditions looked good. But I didn't have a hint of a bite.

There were three other guys fishing there since 8 pm.

The result was one dogfish between the four of us (although possibly they might have got more after I spoke to them - but I didn't notice any fish been landed).

PS* the bad news was that my father had suddenly taken seriously ill. He passed away yesterday afternoon.
