Barna, Co. Galway 21/07/12

Mon Jul 23, 2012 12:12 pm

People: On me tod

Duration: Hour and a half 16:30-18:00

Tide: on the way in high at 19:30

Weather: mild light breeze from the west

Bait: first time trying out soft plastics

Rigs: size 1/0, lead head and berkely gulp sandeel on a texas rig

Results: 4 wrasse

Report: Parked near barna and headed down to rocky mark west of barna village. I have been reading up on soft plastic fishing on various forums and have been looking forward to getting out and giving it a lash for ages, I finally got the chance on Saturday and if I could have stayed longer i'd definately have caught a few more, all the wrasse were caught from different spots but coincidentally all roughly the same size around 30cms ish. Have to admit its a very effective method although i've only used live crab for wrasse in the past. All in all delighted with the session I missed a good few takes due to slack in the line but the ones i did hook absolutely smashed the bait as only wrasse can!!
