Friday We set out on the long journey from Bangor for a weekend fishing in The Kingdom, stopping along the way for the obligatory cups of coffee. Seven hours later we arrived in Ballinskelligs bay just in time to set up a low tide session on Reenroe beach. Hopes were high for a few bass as a nice surf was running with clear water but very little wind and no sign of weed. Although we fished until "high tide" all we took between us were 8 dogfish, all of which were very small. However, nice to get the first session out of the way with everyone catching something.

Saturday We decided to head to Kells Bay for a high tide afternoon session to see if we could catch some fresh macks from the rocks for bait that night. Upon arriving the rocks were full of bashers so we quickly changed our decision to bottom fishing from the pier instead. Ideal as we could reverse the cars down and fish in comfort (getting too old for clambouring around rocks anyway :D). this mark produced reasonable pollack and flounder. colin, being younger than his father and myself headed to the rocks after a couple of hours and returned with a couple of mackerel and a very nice pollack for tea.

On Saturday night we decided to fish reenard pier in Caherciveen, a mark which has produced huss and thornback ray for us in the past. Alas when we arrived the wind had picked up ander after an hour of blanking we decided to return to the more sheltered kells Bay to see what it might throw up in darkness. Absolutely nothing was the answer which was surprising as I thought it would produce after the session we had earlier in the day.

Sunday We woke to a few heavy showers and set up once again at kells Pier. This time I had a strap conger while frank took flounder. Colin had headed again to the rocks and we joined him soon after to search again for fresh bait. the wind by this stage had got up again and nobody seemed to be catching. We had intended fishing Rossbeigh beach that night, but after a feed and somewhat lacking in bait we decided to head north and call it quits.

Sorry there's no pics of the fish, but wetting a line was the main priority for myself as this was my first session of the year. The fact we all caught something was a bonus.
