Report:
Since hound hunt began in spring, I was jelliosly looing to the pictures of them and finaly decide to get one by myself. Last couple of weeks I was waching the weather whitch would suite the hounds, as this friday evening perhaps was the most perfect one but...
Perhaps without local knowledge of area, tactic, technicue a good session is almost imposible, so I was desperate for help. Here is good people who supported me with company, advices and even gear, Thanks a million to them. So we arranged a date and there we go:
I hit a road at 2pm on friday and the first thing was to do, to collect some crabs in dublin. At the time I resived a call from eyesreilly with detaled explanation of the meeting point, just half way to the mark due to be easier for me to find the spot. We met arround 5 and after quick chat headed towards the spot we had arranged earlier.
As we arrived Mitch was seting up. Quickly after our first cast mitch was in the hound, all I could do just to pray that I would get one. After an hour or so the rods didn't showed any activity, WHEN AGAIN mitch got another smoothie  , well... well done to him I said to myself :?
Soon after the photo session with nice hound, Fishface join us for few hours.
As we geather arround eyesreilly's tripod I heard some strange noise, that noise was my falling tripod :? :? I quickly ren towards it as I was told that if the brakes of the reel is not released then is very little bussines for hound to pull your rod into the water. Also eyesreilly came for the help, we checked the rods and couldn't really understand whitch one was falling. I tooked the rod that I thought is moved, but unfortunetly I was wrong, just after few minutes I looked to the anothre rod and noticed that most of the line is missing and then realised what was realy happend, but it was to late, I lost my first fish. well fishing didn't go to well and I was start to worry that could be first and last bait of this session as only mitch was showing that some hounds are in the area :)
All of us were guessing why at so perfect conditions so little movement :?: There was more people fishing on this beach, but also with very same results.
Now this time we geather around my tripod  when I saw my spool turned a bit, lads quickly gave me some advices how to do it propperly, and YES after short fight first my ever cought smoothhound was in my hand, I loved that minute of holding this beauty in my hand, I chaked lad's hands and thanked them for support me with cathing that specific species.
After that not much happend exept mitch cought TWO MORE hounds and me with eyesreilly got 1 pup each.
Around 11pm one after another lads were packing up and headed home, I left last as I had to peel all my crabs for freezing, so around 1am I was last person who leaved the beach.
Well all I can say, my mission was complete, so I covered my trip, what could be better that nice session with nice people arround.
Thanks to all of you for your support

P.S I have to come back to this beach to use the crabs that left over

Great report Grady  ,,,,,,,,,,,though you're Monaghan accent doesn't come across in it  . True, we did see a good few hounds,,,,,,,,,,but that was thank's to Gerry   . As usual when some visiting angler is with us, the most important thing is for him to get his target,,,,,,,,,,,and that's exactly what happened  It made our night to see you get that decent hound, and you experienced the power they have. My first ever hound pulled over my tripod too but I was standing beside it and was able to grab the rod  . You did extremely well to get one , as even the Houndmaster himself, Neil Fishface, blanked  ,,,,,even though he was armed with the best tackle money can buy, including 2 new reels he got for his birthday, bought by himself  . Ger was in the zone last night ,,,,,,,,and unfortunately I couldnt reach that zone  ,but we still ended the night with Smoothounds to Gerry, Yourself, me and ,,,,,,,emmm,,,,,,,,,,no he blanked  Great night with great company,,and nice of the Dodger to drop by and say Hello

nice work lads i ended up with a dog and a pup ,3 whiting and sweet feck all else  then again with the amount of crab baits in the water on your mark i,d say every hound for miles was heading your way  funny even the dogs where thin on the ground ! i think a good easterly or southerly would do the fishing a power of good :?:
