Poolbeg... AGAIN!!!!

Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:34 pm

People: Myself and 2

Duration:19:30 - 01:00

Tide:up and down

Weather:Ok, bit of a strong breeze

Bait:Peeler, Hardback, softys, Lug and mac.

Rigs: Pullys and flappers.

Results: 3 mac and a small scorpion.

Report:Detirment to get my hound in dublin I hit poolbeg again, but this time the tide and weather was right.

We headed out to dig some fresh lug before heading over to Mr Dave tilly who I have to say is a legend, ( Nice one for looking after us ). We hit the light house while the tide was on the rise because one of the lads wanted to do a bit of bashing and like always the usual lads were out trying too. Not many macs getting landed but those that were had nice size to them. I got board watching the bashers and decided to send out a peeler and my mate sent out a hard back..

Sitting there for a while watching the dirty black clouds heading for us one of the rods got a good pull on it so the lad struck into it. At first it looked like a snag but then he nearly got pulled of the rocks, he had hooked a monster, reel stopper or rod bender.... It made a huge dash for the rocks with peter struggling to hold the rod. Looking at peter struggling and the why the line was wizzing around this fish was massive.... But it made it to the rocks and snapped the snood... Ahh well thats how it goes but we now had the jucies flowing in the hope there was a few fish that size out there...

With it getting dark we headed to halfmoon and put out 3 different baits, Peeler, mac strip and a lug. Got a few nibbles on each bait but the lug took in a small scorpion. After and hour or 2 the wind picked up and we decided to get closer to the cars with it being dark and worryed about f*ckers breaking into it..

This time I went with the softys, Put a big one on and sent it out about 60 yards, about 20 mins in the rod got lifted out of the stand. So I puicke it up and waited, I knew he was going to come back and to be sure he did. One huge pull and I struck into it but no hook up. Left it again and bang bang bang!! This had to be it, he had to be on. I lifted into it, and nothing.

Deflated I sent out a fresh softy and chilled, but that was it for the night, we packed up at 1 am and headed home to dream of the monster that got away!
