Report: Wasn't going to do a report as I didnt get anything extraordinary but a fish is a fish and a report is a report so here goes,,,,,,
Had a couple of days in Tramore with herself which enabled me to get out and do a bit of rock fishing and lure fishing. No luck with the lure fishing in Kilfarassey,,,,low tide saw me get snagged in kelp each time and The long walk over the rocks had me knackered. I did see a celebrity on the beach who wasnt too talkative but I wasnt sorry I said Hello and waved,,,,,,,I'll do my part in keeping that tradition alive in Ireland. Maybe someone will make a TV programme about the Irish "Wave",,,,,might do as well as his canal boat series

.
Back to the fishing,,,,,,,,,,Went to the rocks at Newtown cove near Tramore and clambered down to the waters edge, or near enough. The guys there were feathering for mackeral, though I only saw one caught in my 3 sessions there

. The guy above me was a competent caster so I didnt feel too vulnerable down where I was fishing. The rag worked a treat for me, though I didnt get any big wrasse like the last time I fished here. Still I was happy enough getting plenty of bites and not losing too many rigs. The acoustics of the rock formation enabled me to overhear some of the guys above me,,,,,with one father explaining to his son that "All that lad is doing is losing hooks"

. I wouldnt mind but I only lost 6 rigs the entire trip

. You have to speculate to accummulate

. I got my own back on him when he asked what it was that I caught

"Which one ?", says I,,,before explaining that ,,,"I don't mind losing a few rigs and catching a few fish, it's better than blanking

". I added a few new species to my list for the year, namely ballen wrasse, corkwing wrasse and tompot blenny, and also getting blennies, scorpion fish and plenty of pollock. As in the past the bigger pollock came around as dusk fell, not huge but I got a couple in the 35cms bracket, nice on the small rod. The weather was great, though the calm water probably kept the bass away,,,,it actually had me thinking of the smoothie action on the East Coast that I was missing

,,,, and I had painful memories of a large bass I lost at these same rocks last year when my rig disintegrated

. The trip was short and sweet, too short for some beach sessions, next time i'll hopefully get my Waterford Bass
