[b]Tide: Rising & falling
Weather: Thursday & Saturday lovely, Friday rainy
Bait: Lug & crab
[b]Rigs[/b: 2 up traces
Results b: Arrived in W. Waterford and collected lugs ( as big as snakes )and crabs from Cortaz. We were hopeful that he had used some of his magic on the bait and that fish would just jump onto the hook!
First stop was at a rock mark just as the tide started to turn. Willy’s rod got a quick strong tug and after a good fight landed a lovely bass on crab. I then missed a quick bite but suspect that it was a small schoolie.
Later on we moved to another mark . Despite there being quite a lot of weed at the edge of the tide we managed to fish. I landed 4 schoolies and missed 3. Willy and Padraig missed several.
What a great start to 3 days fishing. After that everything went pear shaped.
On Friday we set out to catch some flounder from a mark near Youghal that has given me several specimens. We fished some of the dropping tide and a few more hours of the rising tide but never got even a tap.
On Saturday we headed back to the rock mark which usually yields some nice fish. However, the gods were not on our side and all we caught was a suntan!
My own feeling is that the local seas have huge amounts of fresh water pouring into them. From previous experience this often puts fish off feeding.
As I look out the window the rain is teaming down again.
Looks like I will have to take up bridge or indoor bowling!
