3 bass and two flounderettes.
Report:
Was bringing the nephews down to catch some fish, anything bar crabs. My nephews are only taking up fishing and I wanted them to catch something to keep the interest up.
My sister brought them to Henry's to get a reel and left with a kitchen sink. Fair play to Henry, sorted them out with a great deal. Thank you.
Hit the m50 around 1pm and was setting up 4 rods around 3pm, courtesy of a tractor and very polite lifeguard.
First cast brought in plenty of weed and the day was going to be a total write off. The clouds were gathering, the rain was starting to "release". The wind was howling directly from the south and was causing a sand build up on the equipment we had on the beach.
s*** happens like this, but I was determined that Merro or, Rooster, caught something with an endoskeleton.
After a serious battle with weed, the tide turned up. I'm not too sure why, yet, but the weed seemed to lessen. I reeled in to change bait when I noticed a f ing flounder shapped weed pile. We bloody did it, nay, I should say, I did it. The teacher of two novices had caught a __ flounder, and had witnesses.
I quickly switched rigs for Rooster to a 3hf size 2 hooks to get him in. 20mins later he was in with a nice flounder, that bilbo bagging would have probably thrown back, maybe!
My two rods were out a various distances, one out far, around 50 yards and the other around 40. I had sourced some quality bait from tight lines, with plenty of extra thrown in as usual. 4/0 kamasan loaded with huge rag mofo's enduced the first bass courtsy from the rod tip.
"playing" the small bass in a near hurricane, while the the two nephews had reel issues was not going down well with the, now, confirmed master angler. He was around 37cm. Merro threw it back, not before commenting, "there're very slippery"'!
Again the rod tip bounced, again on the rag, but this was a better fight. This one was hooked badly down in its throught and was bleeding, not from the gills, but internally. Quick measurement ensured that it wouldn't have to suffer too long.
The last one was kind of non event. The rain was getting heavier and wind was picking up again. Another schoolie measuring around the same as the first, couldn't be arsed measuring it, as was unsure the it would stay down flat without being blow away.
All in all, I'm very proud of Merro and Rooster handling the very poor conditions. Lesser men would have watched the football.

Cool report, a lesser angler might have thrown the towell in after the first 3 ton of weed

Missed the turn off. Wasn't too sure abouts it was, turnoff at Sean ogs looked like a car park. Must pay more attention next time.

Fair play Rory now i guess its time for the hounds off that mark near you.... Great fishing weather eh!!!
