Fri May 25, 2012 10:15 am

People: 1st. Sparkey+1, Tightlines, Creep, 2nd Originalsin, Creep 3rd Sparkey+1, Tightlines, Creep

Duration: N/a

Tide: 1st rising, 2nd fishing the drop, 3rd drop to rise

Weather:1st, calm overcast, 2nd beautiful warm, 3rd overcast slightly cooler.

Rigs: Taz

Results: 6 Shad (two specimens)

Report: As said fished St. Mullins three different days 8th of May, 19th of May, and 22nd of May (side note, I also went for the Hounds on the 19th of May report on the via Hounds ;) )

1st trip to St. Mullins worked the ground sussing out the place, but sadly blanked

2nd Trip to St. Mullins Creeps revenge landed two beauts, one 42 cm, and one over the rule! Didn’t have the scales with me  The biggest one Tail walked right of the water a few people watching the action as it unfolded, one person even shout “Here Mick look at the salmon this chaps caught!!” Needless to say the Inland Fishers lads were about!! And To be honest great to see them! One of the features apart from fish was the fact Orginalsin tried to narrow the river by pulling the other side of the bank ever closer!! (see photo!)

3rd trip it was the turn of Sparky+1, and Tightlines Sparkey+1 landed a cracker specimen, which weighed just 1oz over the specimen size (a friend had registered scales) and confirmed it. Tightlines had 3 great fights, oddly enough the fish came on just for a very short while, sadly I blanked this time round but still cant complain

Well done lads some nice fish. I was there myself earlier in the morning and got one and missed a few.
It was only starting to kick off and we had to leave at 12.30 say it was great after that.
I was thinking of heading down next Tuesday does anyone know if they are likely to be still running?

I have to say creep the first photo is rather disturbing!!!
Shad are a very delicate fish and to lay them on the hard, dusty gravel track is just not the done thing
They are a beautiful looking fish too but that one looks like its just fallen out of a cement mixer!!!

Not a good advert for our sport IMO...

Im not wanting to start a row and im glad you got a few fish(fishing was hard this year:( ) I just think its a horrible way to treat a fish....

some real stonking fish there kevin :o :D 8) . good to see them on a measure to get a real idea of the size of them. i'm not a fan of the old, hold a fish at arms length towards the camera to make it look bigger shot
seems to be the chosen pose to photo a fish in all the angling mags these days
they make 30cm flounder look like 3lb specimens

Thanks Lads, @ Dave Fully understand, Just the area I fished her at there was a steep bank little grass (down at one of the bends) and the dirt came from my hands, all I wanted to do was put her on the board and quick photo and back in she went, (ps she was the one that tail walked!) I didnt have the scales with me so I didnt delay in getting her back. (left the scales in the car ) she didnt take long to recover 3, 4 seconds and two tail flicks shes was gone back! I did think about wiping her down before the photo but I figured that was just more handling and stress for her.

I know the spot you`re talking about and there isn`t alot of room..Maybe we should get mini unhooking mats for shad when fishing up there
Or lay it down on the net

P.S.Its class when they come jumping out of the water..I think thats part of the fun :D
Hopefully next year will be better fishing....I cant wait already!!!

That tree gave a cracking account of itself on the light tackle.... Shame it cost me the spinner i found in Youghal tho, i liked that spinner... :(

And i see you didnt comment on the fish i, um, caught, whilst there.... My Stone Loach was way more impressive than your Shads......
