Report:plenty of large mullet about,had a shoal taking surface bread for about 2 hrs,got plenty of bites but didn't connect,if anyone's thinking of trying I was fishing just upstream from the bridge on laytown side,ull see two parking cones that's the spot,good luck if anyone's tries they will do ur head in

Have you tried swim feeder tactics? size 14 or less buried in a bread flake..

No haven't tried that but I did see the locals in lanzarote fishing for mullet what they did was tied a load of tiny treble hooks daisy chain fashion about two foot long and wrapped the two foot of hooks around a bread roll ,not very sporting but they got sh1t loads,I would have fly fished for them but damaged my shoulder recently and had to make do with easy fishing ,should have been resting it but the cabin Fever was doing my head in

Yea I'm the same I usually only try a few times as soon as I get one I'm not too bothered after that,used to spend weeks at them when I was a young lad used to get loads on fish baits in Balbriggan harbour ,but the harbour isn't what it used to be

they take the rag at the right of the river at the tatch cottage on full tide, iv caught loads while trying for bass (in season)

As kids, me and me bro used to catch mullet around the 5 lb mark off the back of howth harbour
usig about 15 foot of a handline, size 8 hooks and a sliver of ray meat,,,ya would think ya had a train on the hook..class fish
