People:Me and hopper

Duration:6 hours

Tide:rise

Weather: n east wind

Bait:lug razor crab mack sand eel

Rigs:pulley rig. 2 hook flapper

Results: 1 flounder. 1 unknown big fish escaped

Headed off at 5.00 in the Mornin. Hopes where high of a few fish. Couldn't sleep the night before. All excited hopeing for a good ray. Got to cork at 9.00 for the breakfast and some red bull to get the energy up. Hit the beach for 10.00 and first bait in the water. This was the beginning of the end. Balls of weed every cast. We moved up the beach about 10 times until the weed stopped. At last comfortable fishing. No weed but no fish either. 6 hours later bait untouched and 1 flounder landed. We decided it wasn't happening and started to throw away bait and pack up when all of a sudden me rod was pulled out of tripod and headed for the sea. Ran as quick as I could picked up rod and struck. Me heart was racin. Fish on. Belted of up the beach and then line went slack. Me stomach sunk. Only bite off the day and it got off. The longest drive home wondering wat got off. Ah well better luck next time. Roll on Clifden in 2 weeks

Just wondering what beaches did you fish. At least you won't be giving away a hot spot.
Some of the Cork beaches are pure night venues and others are best suited to winter fishing.
