People:Rory and I
Duration: 10:30 - 13:00
Tide:Rising
Weather: Overcast
Bait:Lug
Rigs:2 hook flappers
Results: I small pollock and a greedy little Scorpion fish
Report:
The boy and I headed to Greystones planning on trying the south beach as we were expecting the pier to be completely full but were pleasantly surprised to find that there was actually space to fish in comfort. Decided to try lug as the rag and mac hasn't been doing much for us recently.
It seems to be getting quite snaggy off of the pier, probably due to all of the lost rigs
Two other lads setup beside us and we had a good crack, they were well setup from the comfort perspective!, the Greystones sailors provided entertainment by practicing their capsize drills a couple of hundred meters out and finished off with some very nice tight tacking back into the harbour almost directly into the wind with only inches to spare.
I caught a nice lively little pollock, we had lots of nibbles from crabs which mostly chose to let go of the line before they got to the top of the wall. Rory got a greedy little scorpion fish which kept lunging for the remains of the lug after I removed the hook so we let him have it and sent him back, although I expect him to be a frequent visitor to the top of the wall if he is that hungry for lug - until he ends up as soup that is!

I was there last thursday evening. I also noticed the place became more snaggy.

I inadvertently added to the mess yesterday, I almost had mine to the top of the wall a could see that I was snagged in an old line with lumps of seaweed dragging, Gave one last pull and broke my line - adding another few meters and a gripper for the next victim!
