When Wrasse fising with hard back crabs, what size do you use? are they fished on a float or off the bottom?

Hi Marno!
I fish hook about 18ins. off bottom. Crabs about 1 inch across back, bigger crabs halved or quartered. Bring hook out through leg socket and secure with elasticated thread. Use rotten bottom in snaggy ground.

Thanks Ross, so you can split the big hard back crabs? The ones I get crab fishing with my little lads 2-2.5 inches accross the back.

Yes Marno. Wrasse are expert robbers! You will need plenty crab for a session so make them last or get a crab pot. I use a converted shrimp pot and fish it off Querrin Pier or Carrigaholt Pier.
Good fishing to you!
