n.donegal monday 19th

Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:01 am

People: just me

Duration: 1pm - 6pm

Tide: HW 4.30ish

Weather: hurricane

Bait: mack, sandeel, crab

Rigs: yip

Results: very little

Report:
the forecast was giving 18mph SW winds for today. i thought that this shouldnt be too bad, in any case i should probably have been able to find shelter were it necessary..
arrived at destination after a 2hour drive only to get out of the car and into a complete GALE!!     i spent a good hour trying to locate a spot out of the wind, i barely managed to do so.
the target was turbot (or ray, or bass, or s.trout..) but there wasnt any sign of any.
a poor days fishing but nice to get the cobwebs BLOWN AWAY from the weekend.
only one fish caught :( - better than none i suppose. missed a few other small bites and caught a lot of big shore crabs.
will be back mid week to try again. hope that feckin wind dies down!

Fair play to you for getting out, at least you beat the blank.

fairplay gettin out and tryin but as said donegal has its own weather system and if the winds blowin it can be rash place to be. last yaer we were fishinf fahan in our t-shirts basking in the sun and all off a sudden it started to completly empty and the wind kicked up that much tripods were blowing over and everthing was everywere and after desperatly tryin to get things packed up it settled and the sun came back out and wind stopped. id say a wee bit early yet bout 4 or 5 weeks should see the summer fish returning in numbers...

try whitepark bay charlie
2 up 1 down size 4 hooks and a rolling lead with strips of mackerel. even if you don't hit the turbos you'll stand the chance of something else man :P
a lot cheaper on the fuel too

appreciate that suggestion there Al but i wouldnt like to think that i would have to put in a 12hour session, or a very long session(s), to get a wee turbot. as much as i am keen to get one i just dont have the patients to sit that long! i tried wpb on a few occassions last year only to drawn blanks
defo a lot cheaper on the fuel for sure but i reckon im goin to maybe leave it for a while now. maybe in a few weeks time
cheers
