Greystones 17th

People: Me and Harry

Duration: 18.00-2.00

Tide: High@20.00

Weather: Nice and mild then rain wind then more rain.

Bait:Lug,rag,Mac,Squid,Sand eel,Frozen peeler.

Rigs:Flappers,pulleys.

Results:Coalies,Whiting,Pollock,Flounder,Codling,Rockling,Scorpion fish.

Went down to meet Harry on the south beach, havn't fished any of the beaches recentley so it was a nice change from the harbour. Harry had brought down a multiplier for me to have a few casts with as I have never used one and have been thinking of changing over from f/s. Had two casts of a lead and got two birds nests  Not wanting to waste anymore of Harrys time helping me sort the reel I said I'd leave it for another day  A few small fish were got while it was bright but fishing got busy as soon as it got dark, all small fish knockin around but a nice bit of variety.Got a nice size scorpion fish, had a huge head on it!Would of swallowed the one I got later on whole  (Photo doesnt do it justice at all) All fish fell to rag tipped with mac on both of our rods all night.Harry started to wrap up and around 10.30,I think. I said I,d hang around and get through my bait.(Never know when its time to go home  ) Only had one small pollock after Harry left so I decided to pack up and drop by the harbour on the way home for the craic. Pulled up to the Harbour and spotted nobody fishing and noticed the addition of a new wheelie bin :D Have to say to who ever was fishing there earlier fair play, the place was spotless.Cleanest ive seen it in a long time.Fished the harbour with two rods and got nothing but a small scorpion. After getting lashed on for long enough i started to pack up.Threw out a wire trace with a mac head and guts with a bell on the rod while I was wrapping up.With everthing else packed away I sat and watched the rod while having a smoke.Heard the bells then watched the rod tip slowly pull over, never seen a conger bite but presumed it would be a bit more active than this was.reeled in a bit and felt lots of weight but when I went to stike it just came free  Time to go home. All in all it was a good night but I should of wrapped it up when Harry did.
There it is,first report out of the way. Will get a few more pics for the next one.

Nice report and a good mix of fish. I tried the south beach Friday night for a few hours but got nothing, consoled myself that the tide was all wrong but you've proven that theory wrong! Great stuff:-D

Nice Going Tim! Its always good to throw out a big bait in Greystones cause you never know whats lurkin, if it be lobster, or congers or something more , Conger strikes can vary, from a slight pull on the line (sneaking off with the bait) to a whole "BANG" depends how hungry they are ;) had a couple nice edible crabs from the wall there myself.
