Report: With Fishface confined to dinky fishing for the forseeable future (try saying that with a few drink's

) due to a serious car accident, I decided to cheer him up and treat him to some therapeutic fishing in Greystones Harbour. Casting was ruled out so it was a case of dropping a line over the wall and hoping for the best. After we had explained the "No Canoodling on the Pier" rule to a couple beside us we baited up with mack, sandeel and squid on size 4's and lobbed out. I had a couple of small pollock before there was any reply from Fishface but he ended up ahead of me by two fish. I had a pollock and a pouting to even it up before he pulled in another pollock and remembered the old saying,,"I'll quit while i'm ahead",,,,,,,,and started to pack up. He used his spinal injury as an excuse,,,,,but I'm not accepting that one just 'cos he wrote off his car last week

Seriously though,,,,,,,,,,he had a lucky escape thank God,,,,,,,,I couldn't bear the thought of never hearing those fishing stories again

,,,,Dustbin lid plaice,,,wheelbarrow loads of doggies at comps,,,,,,huge Greystones cod,,,,,,,,,,blah, blah , blah
Anyway's, with Neil gone , I used my 2 rod's,,,,,,,one in close and the other 20/30 yds out with sandeel. When I retrieved it there was a bit of weight on,,,,,and I reeled in a double of a Pollock and my first doggie of 2012

. It was a real pleasure being out fishing on such a nice night,,,,and when one of the foreign lads reeled in an Octopus we all went over for a gander and a few piccies. The Octopus wasnt too happy and gave us the two fingers,,,,,,,,or in his case the eight tentacles

. I unhooked him while they were all looking for gloves

,,, and the lad put him back in. I had a nice coalie on mack/squid in close on the small rod and when my leader parted company with the main line on a short lob, I decided to call it a night. Avery enjoyable and relaxing night
