around Kinsale

Fri Oct 14, 2005 10:10 pm

I just sent a report, but It didnt arrive, try once again.
Yeaterday was a lovely day: nice sunshine, warm, no wind,... I fished around kinsale from 4pm till 7.30 pm. I wanted to fish around charles fort, but there were too many tourists there. Drove furtheron, there is a boatyard on the left side, follox the small road, and after 1 km there is a sign with rockfishing. On your left. park the car there. When it's low tight, very easy to walk, but be carefull, a little bit slippy. Walk on the rocks for a couple of minutes, and uou see the entry of the ocean.
When you cast further than 15 metres, the bottom is excellent, no weed, no grass, no stones, only a sand bottom.
I used 2 rods, but had the most succes with the worm: 11 codling and three nice dogfich ( one 2.7 kilo) and 1 underseized flounfder. used the mackerel too, all small wyting. A mic squid/ lugworm was the best: 6 nice cod (ling) One of 1.5 kilo, hook was deep, took him with me, al the other ones threw back.
I was very surprised of this spot. Over a couple of weeks, when it's getting colder, it can be a excellent spot in the afternoon, when water is coming in....
For petekd and conger: no problem if we go once together, we can learn from each other. But do not expect from me that I.m a specialist. I like fishing but I keep it as simple as possible. And in fact, my real passion and speciality is... eel-fishing. I'm from belgium and eelfishing is bvery popular there...
But do not hesitate contact me: gillet52@hotmail.com problem is, I do not alwaus know when I'm off, I'm pharmacist and very often I.m on call. But contact me, and we see.
