Report:
Friday was here once more so myself and Jack headed for our usual habitat, in the dark on a beach somewhere. Decided to head to a north Dublin beach that we'd tried about a month ago except try it from low water up this time. Baits in the water about 19.15 we settled back to enjoy the lovely warm evening and dream of a Dublin bass about a month too early! An hour and a half later with the crabs rampant and not a fishy nibble we decided to cut our losses and head to a nearby pier to beat the blank. This worked out well, plenty of small whiting mingled with a pout, poor cod and dab for Jack with a scorpion for me and a pout on the last cast. Nothing massive but plenty of fish and a few more for the species list for 2012. Probably the biggest thing all night was a shore crab about 10cm across its shell and Jack got a good bend in his rod off an old hiking-sock that he dragged up on his last cast!
