Report:
After I had a good session on the rocks last weekend, Anna decided she wouldnt mind a run out this week. After lunch I went and gathered enough bait for a few hours sport and everything was looking good until Mother Nature intervened![]()
The brisk N.Westerly turned into a real howler and coupled with occassional but heavy snow/ hail showers it was turning into a stinking day.
We went and looked at the rock mark and while it looked safe enough, Anna announced she "was'nt fishing anywhere in this weather without a beach buddy and a petrol lamp burning beside her". Although I protested how the fishing would be better on the rocks, I was secretly glad as the temp guage on the car was showing minus 2 degrees and it was still daylight!
We decided to go on up the road to Cushendun beach and set up with the whole beach to ourselves.
We didnt have a single bite till well into darkness and even then it was only flats which were almost see through! As the evening progressed we managed to catch other bits and pieces from the gulley just in front of us (all small) and the whiting I was pulling at distance were even smaller!
Last chuck Anna pulled a 32cm coalie and while I was trying to convince myself that this was the start of them, I couldnt even persuade myself to stay on for another hour as the hail had started pelting down again.
Good to get out however, rubbish fishing is still a million times better than rubbish saturday night television.
